Hut building and making fire - 11 April 2026

Building huts is one of the most enjoyable activities in the forest! On this day, the Nature School provides hut-building materials – sticks, twigs, string, knives and other items needed to build a cosy hut. You will also learn how to build a fire.

This day, Uppsala Nature School  provides materials for building huts – sticks, twigs, string, knives and other items that may be needed to build a really cosy hut. You build the huts yourselves however you want, but of course we can give tips and a helping hand if anyone wants or needs it.

We also have materials on site for making your own fire by the hut, so you can grill a sausage or stick bread (which you bring yourself). We provide ketchup and mustard and arrange for hot juice and coffee.

Time: 11 April, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: The forest near Dalkarlskärret. We will show you the way to the location with signs and ribbons from the car park at Dalkarlskärret.

Going there: Take bus nr 107 from Uppsala central station to Vreta västra and from there it's a short walk for about 10 minutes to Dalkarlskärret.

Registration: Drop-in, no pre-registration required.

Cost: Free.

Feel free to bring something to grill!

A warm welcome!

This activity is a collaboration with Campus1477 and Student Health Service at Uppsala University and is a part of the project "Students on tour in our nature" that Campus1477 is carrying out in 2026 together with the Upplandsstiftelsen with the support of Region Uppsala
