Tenting for beginners - 25-26 April 2026

In collaboration with the Uppsala local branch of the Swedish Tourist Association (Svenska Turistföreningen - STF) and Student Health Service at Uppsala University, we invite you to spend a night outdoors. Take a break from everyday life – come out and experience the community, the tranquillity and the sounds of nature. A warm welcome to a night out with the Swedish Tourist Association! This activity is particularly suitable for those who are new to Swedish nature. The activity is organised in collaboration with Studiefrämjandet and Upplandsstiftelsen.

Welcome to the great outdoors! Join us for a relaxing evening and night in the beautiful Hammarskog area. We will spend the night in a wind shelter or tent, enjoying the warmth of the fire and good conversation under the stars. The wind shelter can accommodate four people and there is plenty of space for tents in the area. During the evening, we will keep the fire going for those who want to barbecue or cook their dinner over an open fire. In the morning, we will light the fire again for coffee, tea or perhaps a boiled egg for breakfast. A saucepan for this is available on site, so you do not need to bring your own.

Equipment to bring:

• Sleeping bag

• Sleeping mat

• Tent (Please indicate in your registration whether you have your own tent or can borrow one from Fritidsbanken or a friend, or if you need to borrow a tent on site. Please note that you must be prepared to share a tent with others!)

• Clothes for the weather – keep in mind that it can get chilly. A hat, gloves, warm jumper and thermal underwear are recommended.

• Cup/mug and cutlery

• Dinner, breakfast and drinks of your choice

• Water for your own use (drinking, brushing your teeth, making coffee/tea)

And for those who are sensitive to noise – a pair of earplugs can be worth their weight in gold!

You may be able to borrow equipment from Fritidsbanken if you need
