Are you keen to try long-distance skates, or have some previous experience and want company on a shorter trip and togetherness around the barbecue. Then you are welcome to come along when we meet outside in Fjällnora on 16/2.
The ice conditions are currently very good in Uppsala and Uppland and if it stays this steady and safe, we will arrange a Longdistance skating tour with a barbecue on Sunday 16 of February.
Location: Fjällnora nature reserve Fjällnora naturreservat (at the entrance to the rental in Fjällnorastugan)
Time: 16 of Feb at 10.15 am to 1 pm
Get there: By car to Fjällnora, or by bus no. 809 from Uppsala Central Station at 09.31 (Location B2) to Fjällnora crossroads (at 09.53) and from there walk about 3 km.
Equipment: Mandatory equipment is long-distance skates and ice spikes, as well as clothing according to the weather. A helmet of some kind is very good to have! Preferably a change of clothes and seat mat in a backpack. If you don't have your own long-distance skates and ice spikes, it may be possible to borrow long-distance skates free of charge at Fritidsbanken. Otherwise, we pay for skate hire for two hours from Fjällnora's own rental (with the reservation that your size may run out in the rental and no pre-booking is possible, so bring a pair of extra-large socks so that you can fill in a size larger if necessary)
Level: All levels are welcome to try, but of course it's up to you to handle yourselfe and try on your own if you're a total beginner. The leaders can give you some tips, but they are not educated iceskating-instructors.
Skating: We go for a group tour on the part of the lake that is reported to have safe ice (it looks promising with cold temperatures the days before). Then we can divide into different groups depending on how experienced a skater you are. But no one is allowed to skate alone and you always skate at your own responsibility and risk! After a while of skating, you are welcome to the grill for a little shared barbecue fika. Current ice status can be found on Fjällnora's facebooksida
Fika/Barbecue: We offer barbecue sausages (also vegetarian) and drinks when we gather at the grill after the skating, but feel free to bring your own hot drink if you want. It is also possible to buy fika in Fjällnora's café.
MAX 15 places!
But if the events becomes fully booked, you are of course still welcome to come join. But since we cannot offer skate rental or fika for free for more than 15 persons, bring your own skates and fika in that case!
