Are you curious about Swedish nature and want to learn more about bats? Then this is the perfect opportunity!
Batlife Sweden, in collaboration with Uppsala Nature School and Biotopia, is celebrating International Bat Night at Hammarskog Nature Reserve. Come and learn more about these fascinating and somewhat mysterious nocturnal creatures that live amongst us, but aren’t always easy to spot.
WHERE
Dalkarlskärret, Hammarskog. You can take bus no. 107 from Uppsala Central Station to the Vreta västra stop, and then walk from there to Dalkarlskärret.
WHEN
Saturday 29 August between 17:00 and 22:00 (come whenever you like and stay as long as you like)
FOR WHOM
Everyone is welcome! The site is partially wheelchair accessible. A disabled-accessible outdoor toilet is available by the car park.
HOW
Throughout the afternoon and evening, we’ll be offering a range of bat-related activities – led by Anna Lagerqvist from Biotopia and BatLife Sweden. The activities are free of charge, except for bat box building, where you pay the cost price for the kit.
As evening falls and the bats begin to fly, we’ll be holding bat-watching tours. Using bat detectors, we can listen to the bats flying around Dalkarlskärret (and perhaps even spot them).
