Uppsala Light Festival in collaboration with Student Sports Campus1477 presents the third edition of the Uppsala Light Run – a fun run for you who do not chase times, but instead appreciate the combination of running and experience at your own pace. The 5 kilometer course takes you past all light artworks that this year make up the popular Uppsala Light Festival.
It's not a hard run, It's a light run!
Experience the magical atmosphere that the festival creates while discovering Uppsala in a new way. With a headlamp on your head and a reflective harness, you light up not only the road for yourself, but also form a temporary part of the Uppsala Light Festival. Both headlamp and reflective vest are included in the registration fee.
The race is perfect for both beginners and experienced runners who want to enjoy a relaxed run through a unique environment that literally lights up in the autumn darkness,
It's not a hard run, it's a light run!
Date: Thursday the 12th of November
Registration fee: SEK 250. Headlamp and reflective harness are included in the price.
Registration: Sign up in this form
ATTENTION! Only 1 000 places, first come, first served!
Preperation before: To both enhance your experience during the race and for you to know where you are, we recommend that you look up the digital map of the location of the light artworks on Uppsala Light Festival's website. An interactive map and the light works will also be available in the "Uppsala konst och kulturarv"-app, which shows where the works are and follows your own position in real time. There you can also read more about the various works. Download the app on Google Play or the App Store. Don't forget to activate your notifications to know when you are near a light structure and to find your way more easily.
Check in: From 17:00 can you come to Vaksala torg to "check in" and get your headlamp and reflective harness. To check in, simply show your entry/booking confirmation, which you received by email when you registered. Please arrive well in advance of your start time to avoid queues
Location: Start and finish by the south east corner of Vaksala torg

Covering clothes and bags: NOTE! We do not have a guarded bag drop at start/finish. Come as you are or bring friends who can take care of your outerwear/bags while you run. You are, of course, welcome to leave your bag in the finish area, but in that case, you do so at your own risk.
Warm-up: Joint warm-up for each starting group a few minutes before the start.
Start: 18:00 - 18:45 in groups with 100 in each group every 5 minutes. PLEASE NOTE! It is important that you stick to the starting group you have been allocated to. This is because congestion may otherwise occur along the course, and we want to ensure a steady flow of runners.
Maximum time: You run at your own pace and stop and experience the light artworks, but need to keep a pace around the course so that you finish at the latest by 20:00
Course length: approx. 5 km

Course markings: The course is marked with reflective markings (which you can see with your headlamp) as well as signs with arrows at certain crossroads.

Traffic: At road crossings, officials in yellow reflective vests will stand and show the way. Normal traffic rules apply and you as a "pedestrian" do have priority at pedestrian crossings, but of course you must also pay attention to other road users.
PLEASE NOTE! There are three points along the route where you will cross roads with traffic lights. At these points, you must wait for the ‘green man’ before running across the road!
Take it carefully! No timing = No closed roads = No stress!

Safety: At the start and finish, there is simpler healthcare equipment, the nearest defibrillator is in Uppsala Konsert and Kongress by Vaksala torg. Volunteers are located along the course to help with road crossings and incidents. As a participant, we recommend that you download the 112 app in your mobile phone that you take with you during the event.
Sustainability: As an event, the Uppsala Light Run also wants to contribute to sustainability, both environmentally, socially and financially. That's why we focus on the social, physical and cultural experience without timing and result anxiety at as low registration fee as possible. We also ask you as a participant to be considerate and not litter along the road.
Results: Your own experience! We have no timing. You decide for yourself what pace you want to run around and pass the light artworks to get to the goal.
